Laughing Kookaburra

$42.00 Sold Out

Also called the laughing jackass, the kookaburra is the largest member of the kingfisher family and is widely known for its call which resembles an echoing human laugh.

It is also the bird emblem of New South Wales and is a monogamous bird, meaning they retain the same partner for life.

Adapted well to live alongside humans in city parks and suburban gardens as well as dry eucalypt forests and woodlands, the name kookaburra comes from Wiradjuri, a traditional Aboriginal language.
